Education The schools of Jefferson
County aim for excellence. They are noted for working with all elements
of the community to provide a seamless educational progression for
motivated students.
Madison Consolidated Schools serve K-12 students from
Graham, Lancaster, Madison, Monroe, Milton and Shelby townships. Madison
Consolidated High School includes grades 9-12 and Madison Junior High
School includes grades 6-8. There are seven elementary schools. For

Southwestern Schools serve K-12 students from these
townships: Hanover, Republican, Smyrna, Saluda. To register for grades
K-5, call Southwestern Elementary School at (812) 866- 6200. To register
for grades 6-12, call Southwestern Middle and High School, (812)

Prince of Peace Catholic Schools are Pope John XXIII
Elementary School (Preschool-6) and Shawe Memorial Junior-Senior High
School (7-12). For elementary registration, call (812) 273-3957. For
junior and senior high, call (812) 273-2150. Prince of Peace is the only
parish in the Indianapolis Archdiocese that offers infant-through-12th
grade education.
Grace Baptist School is a Christian K-12 school
located at 920 Montclair St., Madison. For registration information call

The Christian Academy of Madison is located at 477 W.
Hutchinson Lane and can be reached at (812) 273-5000.
Ivy Tech Community College in Madison, Indiana, offers technical
certificates and associate degrees in a large array of programs and
specialties of study to help students qualify for better jobs or to
transfer to other institutions to earn their bachelor’s degree. The
Madison campus specializes in business, general education, health

College Cooperative Southeast is a collaboration
between Indiana two-year and four-year institutions of higher education
to expand post-secondary educational opportunities for citizens of
Southeastern Indiana. At the Comprehensive Learning Center located at
Madison's Ivy Tech campus, students view live, televised courses via
satellite direct from major colleges and universities in Indiana and
other states.
Hanover College is a private, coeducational, liberal
arts institution consistently ranked among the best colleges in the
United States. Founded in 1827, Hanover is the oldest private, four-year
college in Indiana and is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA).
Hanover's 1,000 students come from 36 states and 18. The average
student-faculty ratio is 10 to 1. The Bachelor of Arts degree is awarded
in 29 majors, with pre-professional programs in medicine, dentistry and
law. Hanover is located a short drive from Madison, Indiana.
