Employment is diverse. The largest employer is King’s Daughters’ Hospital & Health Services, a regional health facility that employs 1,057. Another major employer is Madison State Hospital, a regional mental health facility with 472 employees. Automotive suppliers are the largest employers in Madison's manufacturing sector. These include Arvin Sango Inc. (753 employees), Grote Industries (672), Madison Precision Products (465) and Rotary Life (425). Educational opportunities in Jefferson County include two public school systems, Madison Consolidated and Southwestern Schools, as well as Catholic and Protestant school systems, a regional campus of Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana and Hanover College, a private liberal arts college.
