Madison, Indiana, is a destination for thousands each year. The primary attraction is Madison's downtown historic district, which features a rich array of historic homes andLanier Mansion in Madison Indiana commercial buildings from the 19th Century. Madison has the largest historic district in Indiana with more than 133 blocks on the National Register of Historic Places, three National Historic Landmarks and National Historic Landmark District designation. The Lanier State Historic Site, pictured here, is open to the public year-round.

Festivals attract visitors nearly every weekend from spring to fall. Boating on the Ohio River is a popular pastime. For active recreation, visit Clifty Falls State Park, Big Oaks Wildlife Refuge or a municipal park in Madison or Hanover.

Overnight accommodations range from ante-bellum grandeur to modern comfort. Dining in Madison is a treat, with more than 50 restaurants and wineries for your enjoyment. Go to the Business Directory for information on accommodations, dining and more.
